This experience makes it clear to us why these clocks remain so very popular with customers all across the world. As an experienced and reliable dealer of these clocks, we sell Howard Miller clocks, buy used Howard Miller clocks, and fix Howard Miller clocks. Village Watch Center is proud to be a Howard Miller dealer. (although I have noted that Howard Miller no longer offers tall case triple chimes in chain driven, it's all cable drive now), and that this is not a particularly cheap movement to replace.Finding A Reputable Howard Miller Clock Repair, Service Center, and Dealer in Massachusetts What Village Watch Center Has to Offer I have also read that if the movement is damaged in any way that it is more cost effective to simply replace with a new movement, seeing as they are still made. They really didn't seem interested in investing anything in it's maintenance.
I would only hope that they will sell it at a yard sale or something rather than damage it further. But I'm afraid I'd have to tell these folks that I want more than $100 just to do that. But, it's not, and HM has certified service.īeing that we are stranded in the middle of 200 miles from the nearest HM service people, I would be willing to pull, prep and ship the movement and put it back in when it was done. If it was my own clock, I'd be comfortable to monkey with it if it was messed up. I have emailed one of the two HM Service reps in Miami, but it's been a few days and I'm getting impatient for a response. I'm just curious what the HM Service charges for that so I can give them an honest assessment.
I'm the one that has determined that it's been neglected for 35 years or more and really needs to be competently serviced, not just oiled and leveled. They figured I could just "get it running" for them at the very reasonable courtesy price of 50-100 bucks for my time. Well, to be fair, they don't know anything about clocks, Clearly. I'd recommend you send it to "x" qualified HM repair center. I'd really like to just tell them it desperately needs a proper servicing. for a bit.īut they have never had it serviced in 30+ years and oiled a few times sporadically, at best.
I could probably level it better(definitely), throw some oil on it in situ and make it run. They have a really nice clock that is worth taking care of. And now they expect that for something less than $100, I should be able to make it run for them. Said they had a friend in Texas who looked at it a few times and "just made it run". The couple indicated that they bought the clock at an auction, had had it over 30 years(in Texas), moved to Key West and didn't run it or had it in storage for another 5 years. I was called to look at it, but I'm just a tinkerer.
155" from the instruction manual in the case and neglected to take any pictures at all. The clock is across town, and regretfully, I just wrote down the model # and "No.
